  Wee Folks

as I make more and more rhagdolls
I find they fall into different
yet similar groups.
this page is an overview of those I call "faire folk", "legendary", "contemporary" and my "special interest group"
and from here the world of
Wee Folks awaits!

inspiration is found in
many and very diverse places.
a wee scrap of fabric
my old mother goose book
book, movies, songs
a performer at a faire
A little something for everyone,
or a doll that is of your own imagining.

All Wee Folk are 22"
handmade, individual, unique.
All dolls are signed and dated.

My first rhagdolls, and favorite still,
were and are influenced by years of attending
Renaissance festivals and making costumes.
These dolls are Lords and Ladies,
the rurally inclined and the princess in a keep,
Celtic lasses and kilted lads,
dolls influenced by ethnic dress

These dolls tip a wink at today.
They're drawn from pop culture,
books and movies,
Brother Cadfael and Pirates.
Dolls inspired by the songs of
Townes Van Zandt.
It is a world populated
with Punks and Hippies
Free Spirits
monks and swabbies.

All rhagdolls are unique individuals.
these special orders are more so,
being reflections of a person,
or bits of whimsy,
Ghoulardi of Cleveland
or
recreations of a long lost doll.
The ideas given me by others inspire me,
sometimes taking me places
I would not have otherwise gone.
